I had an amazing time at the Tongariro Lodge! The location was exceptional, with easy access to the Tongariro River and Lake Taupo for some fantastic fishing. The lodge itself had a comfortable and authentic style, creating a unique atmosphere for our stay. The restaurant was elegant and the food was absolutely delicious, especially the fresh venison and smoked trout. The rooms were clean, convenient, and offered a wonderful view of the river from the terrace. The organization for fishing and hunting was seamless, thanks to the exceptional hunting guide, Roger. I highly recommend this lodge for fishermen and hunters seeking an exceptional experience.

We got great value for our money at Tongariro Lodge. The rooms had a charming hunting lodge feel and the property was beautifully maintained. The location was perfect for exploring Tongariro National Park and the staff were friendly and attentive.
The food for breakfast could have been improved by offering a wider variety of pastries.

Slightly old school NZ hospitality. Cabin was a bit dated, but quiet. On-site restaurant was comfy, no piped music. Breakfast selection good, evening meal very good. Villa upgrade unexpected, spacious and clean. Becky at front desk friendly, drove us to town.

The location was great, being right next to the river was a beautiful setting. the food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, definitely a highlight of our stay. the breakfast options were varied and tasty, setting us up for the day.
The room was quite old and small, which was a bit disappointing. the ventilation in the room was not good, leaving it feeling stuffy and uncomfortable at times.

the lodge had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a mountain retreat. the staff at the reception were friendly and helpful, even lending us their umbrellas when the lodge's own were unavailable. Our room had a great shower and the coffee in the reception area was delicious. One of the highlights of our stay was the breathtaking view from our Chalet room's balcony. We enjoyed sipping wine and chatting with our neighbors as we watched the sunset over the mountains. And the meals at the lodge's restaurant were absolutely worth the extra money.
It was one of the most scenic and enjoyable lodges I have stayed at. Cons: Didn't dislike anything about the property.

The accommodations were comfortable and the staff were welcoming and efficient. the food was excellent, and the chef was enthusiastic about discussing the menu. the wine list was also very good. the key location was perfect for our planned activities. Plus, the staff went above and beyond by finding us an experienced fishing guide.
The chalet accommodations were very basic and lacked amenities such as wifi and little luxuries like bathrobes or above-basic toiletries. the noise from the adjoining walls was a major downside, as we could hear our neighbors moving around and talking in the early hours of the morning.

The cabins have modern bathrooms with heating and some even have a lovely view of the river. The staff at the lodge are pleasant and helpful, ensuring a comfortable experience.
The TV in one of the cabins had a technical issue on the first night and was only fixed the next day.

our recent stay at a rustic chalet in Turangi was fantastic! The reception and service at this lodge were exceptional, allowing us to check in early. The facilities, including a vintage CRT TV, added to the perfect atmosphere. And the fireplace was a cozy touch. We will definitely be back!
Sound insulation needs improvement.
